The weather service noted the location of the heaviest snow and timing is likely to be adjusted as the storm draws closer, but a wide swath of 6-12 inches of snow is anticipated.

According to the Met Office forecast for Sunday morning in Sheffield, heavy rain is set to hit during the early hours, with sleet between 3am and 6am. The weather service reported travel is expected to be hard to almost impossible Saturday afternoon, especially in central and east-central Minnesota.

Rain will begin to clear from the west later this morning and it will then brighten in most places for the afternoon.

Not much snowfall will be expected as the main roads are pretty well treated.

"Snow seems nearly certain to fall in the next week or so and we make it odds-on to come down before the end of the weekend".

Another winter storm system arrives late tonight and will continue through the weekend. Southerly winds will gradually strengthen and rain will spread eastward across the country later in the day and on Monday night.

On Saturday and Sunday, highs near 80 are expected.

A winter storm warning has been issued for most of Minnesota, except for the Arrowhead, lasting from 3 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday in northeast counties. Should the temperature reach 32, it would be the first time Brainerd's experienced above-freezing temperatures in 58 days.

Rain also is possible this weekend, forecasters said.

Wintry showers of sleet and snow are being forecast for Saturday night.

Yup, Boston is going to get more snow.
