Fans of the galaxy far, far away will be able to visit the new "Star Wars" sections at Walt Disney Co's Disneyland starting on May 31 and at Walt Disney World beginning on August 29, the company announced on Thursday.
Iger said that the park will open at Disneyland on May 31 and at Walt Disney World on August 29. Guests will be able to experience the new "Millennium Falcon: Smuggler's Run" ride, but will have to wait several months to ride the land's other hotly anticipated attraction, "Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance". Plus, reservations are required to visit the park in Anaheim between May 31st and June 23rd.
If that footage seems to lean heavily on the Smuggler's Run attraction, which puts visitors in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon for a video game-inspired motion simulator, that's because it will be the only major ride running when Galaxy' Edge opens. Information on how to make a reservation will be available at a later date. The land will open in phases.
As we previously reported, in addition to their own food and merch, Galaxy's Edge will have two marquee rides. During Extra Magic Hours guests staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels can spend extra time at Disney's Hollywood Studios enjoying select attractions.
At the Milk Stand, guests can order their very own farm-fresh blue milk or green milk, direct from Bubo Wamba Family Farms, a classic beverage served throughout "Star Wars" films. Both dates, announced Thursday, are earlier than expected. The name Galaxy's Edge refers to the fact that Batuu is on the Outer Rim of the Star Wars galaxy, a bustling outpost left behind when hyperspace travel shifted trade routes. "While Batuu may be new to us, it is clearly already familiar to many characters from the Star Wars saga as a stepping off point for epic adventures".
Phase two, which opens later this year, will include the Rise of Resistance, where guests can either battle as the First Order or the Resistance.
