Three starter Pokemon were announced: Grass-type Grookey, Fire-type Scorbunny, and Water-type Sobble. Pokemon Sword and Shield, as they were revealed today, will be the first time a true-to-form pair of Pokemon games will appear on something other than a Nintendo handheld, and it's the ideal time for Game Freak and Nintendo to take a few risks.
Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield will be set in Galar, an expansive region with many environments-idyllic countryside, contemporary cities, thick forests, and craggy, snow-covered mountains. To Game Freak's credit, the Galar region seems like it'll be a varied one with different biomes, which is definitely nice to see.
You'll visit the various Gyms in the region, and work your way to becoming Champion.
Sobble is the Water Lizard Pokemon and will be your choice if choosing the water-type is something you want to do.
Nintendo shares lost 29 per cent of their value last year as investors questioned Switch's ability to appeal beyond hardcore gamers and in January Nintendo slashed its full-year Switch hardware sales forecast. Fans are also reassured Nintendo has plenty more planned for the Pokemon brand alongside these new releases.
Nintendo isn't the only company celebrating Pokemon Day. "We would never pass up a chance to celebrate Pokemon".
