By early Tuesday morning, according to NWS, a mix of rain and snow could fall around the 500' level in the northern Sacramento Valley area.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory from 6 p.m. Tuesday through 6 a.m. Wednesday for most of northeastern and north central IL, due to the sleet and freezing rain. Highs on Wednesday will only reach the mid-20s in Kansas City. Accumulation of ice will likely damage trees and cause downed power lines leading to power outages.
"Patchy freezing drizzle will change to freezing rain early this afternoon", the agency said. "Most of southeast Wisconsin will pick up around 0.10" of freezing rain, with as much as 0.20" in a few spots.
Sunrise Park Resort in Greer, reportedly received over five inches of snow over the weekend. Sidewalks and parking lots could become slippery too. There is going to be a break in the action on Wednesday, followed by another round of snow Wednesday night, Thursday, into Thursday night.
Most areas will top out around 60 degrees once again, but a cold front expected to move through the area tonight will temporarily bring an end to the unusual warmth.
