Rashford's dynamism and movement has put him ahead of the rather static Belgian and rewarded Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's faith.
Nearly 25 years to the day since Matt Busby died, Solskjaer made it seven wins from seven in all competitions on the one-month anniversary of his appointment as two of the players to have shone in his short tenure scored again. [That was his] 150th game which is a feat in itself being 21 as he is.
Pogba scored the first goal in Saturday's victory, winning and converting a penalty in the 27th minute, before Rashford doubled the lead before half-time.
"Maybe in 10, 15, 20 years' time I'll look back on things like this", he said.
"Well I think with Paul, I watched him come through the academy at United and he's got a lot of ability, but the hard time he was going through. if you don't have a good relationship with the coach, then it's hard to be at your top if you feel like the coach is scrutinising every decision you make, every pass you make", Rooney told ESPN.
"It appears this group of players is extremely hard to motivate", the Italian coach said after seeing Chelsea manage just one shot on target after Alexandre Lacazette and Laurent Koscielny scored in the first half for Arsenal.
"As long as you take one game at a time and prepare well we should go into any game as winnable one, we have had some tough years at the club".
Both clubs turn their attention to the FA Cup, with United travelling to Arsenal in the fourth round on Friday and Brighton hosting West Brom the following day. Going into gameweek 23, United were level on points with 5th placed Arsenal (41), and just 6 behind Chelsea who are 4th in the table. It doesn't add pressure.
"Credit to a group of players that seized the opportunity to get back in the game".
The Frenchman did a shortened version of his stuttering run-up, before slotting past David Button.
"The players have to be proud of the form and the momentum they are building", Solskjaer said. "The way he strikes the ball is good enough".
