The units include Meridian's Bass & Space technology created to improve the soundstage, offer strong bass, and envelop listeners in an immersive experience.
LG's new lineup also includes sound technology from Meridian Audio.
Able to up-mix two-channel audio to multiple, distinct channels without generating any distortion, the Meridian Upmix technology increases sound immersion by improving the sound field while upgrading the clarity of vocals and lead instruments.
The more high-end SL10, SL9 and SL8 sound bars take it a step further with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X support.
Putting Google Assistant into things is a pretty common move these days, especially in devices that can be considered smart in one way or another.
With built-in Google Assistant, the new sound bars should double as a full-on Google smart speaker, allowing users to request songs or ask the weather with their voice. With some of LGs premium soundbars supporting high-resolution audio via an advanced processing algorithm that can upscale conventional file formats, the output comes even closer to studio quality.
LG has detailed the latest additions to its home audio lineup. "Having Assistant baked in also means you can use the soundbar as a smart home hub, controlling products like Wi-Fi-connected lights and blinds without getting up off the couch". Two of the units, models SL9YG and SL10YG, have been announced as winners of CES Innovation Awards in the Best of Innovation category. The LG SL9 is slim at 57mm (2.25 in) deep and has an integrated gyroscope sensor to help you correctly position the sound bar on a wall or flat surface.
The TechRadar team will be heading to CES 2019 and will be getting a hands-on with LG's new audio products. Their booth will be inside the Las Vegas Convention Center on Central Hall #11100.
