Liverpool occupy the summit of the Premier League at Christmas, four points ahead of second-place Manchester City following a 2-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Friday.

In hard conditions, with the rain pouring down and against a Wolves side with some unsafe attacking players, Liverpool got the job done with something to spare and to have 48 points on the board at Christmas is incredible.

"I'm very happy with what I've got and what I have, but how I said, we don't know and that's the only little bit why I keep the door open because if some things happen then we need to have a look". If we lose a game one day and everybody immediately starts saying we showed we can not deal with the pressure, there are still 17 games to go or whatever.

Rafael Benitez believes he will achieve a second miracle in successive campaigns if he manages to avoid Premier League relegation with Newcastle again.

In an interview given to BBC, He said, "I think Liverpool have now turned a corner, they've become attractive".

"If something will dramatically change then we need to have a look, that's all". We have two games away before the new year and we have to do that.

Yet Liverpool have put the champions under pressure and that might be why they slipped up at the Etihad Stadium in what was one of the biggest upsets I can remember in the Premier League.

"There is pressure because we want to win against Newcastle and that is hard enough".

"Pep Guardiola is a very intelligent guy, it means that they haven't caught up those four points but he knows there are 20 matches left to play and one of those is going to be against Liverpool", said Hodgson. We all have to be focused, not nervous.

'We are not children any more. It's a different team, a different time. We have the basis for a good season, nothing else'. Why should you even think about it?

"The other teams, you can see the challenge". In 2008/09, Manchester United won the title; in 2013/14 it was Manchester City.

On whether he can transmit his own experiences of being involved in a title race to his players... "Don't think because we have that amount of points and Newcastle have that amounts of points [we will win]". I am for sure the reason for a few things that are not that good because I am far away from being flawless, but my experience or not experience will not be key.
