Roughly four months after the release of the popular multiplayer shooter's last hero, Hammond (an intelligent hamster in a giant ball mech), Blizzard is already teasing Overwatch's next hero: Ashe, the "rebellious" female leader of the fictional "Deadlock Gang".
Ashe is Overwatch's hero 29th.
The trailer gave us a sneak peek at the Damage hero and her abilities.
Unlike most other characters in Overwatch, it seems like Ashe's primary weapon - a semi-automatic rifle named "The Viper" - can be aimed via iron sights or hip fire. In addition to her main firearm, Ashe also has access to a stick of dynamite and a small shotgun that can cause massive pushback to both herself and her enemies.
"Ashe summons her trusted omnic sidekick, B.O.B., who charges forward and knocks enemies into the air, then lays down suppressing fire with his arm cannons".
This is definitely a DPS kit with a high skill ceiling.
Overwatch's newest hero, Ashe, was announced today during the BlizzCon opening ceremony to great fanfare, alongside a brand new cinematic, Reunion. McCree gets the better of her in the animated short, but you can bet Ashe won't let that stand. Just as interestingly, it sounds like Ashe is voiced by Jennifer Hale, who in 2013 was awarded the Guinness world record for "most prolific female video game voice actor" for her work in games like Metal Gear Solid, Mass Effect and plenty of others.
