All-new MacBook Air takes flight

Apple finally announces updated MacBook Air with Retina display to take on Surface Laptop 2

On top of this Apple has included two Thunderbolt 3-enabled USB-C ports on the left-hand side. All other ports have been eliminated, as expected in Apple's modern MacBook port strategy. The trackpad graduates to a Force Touch unit with no moving parts, at least, and it's much bigger than the outgoing model's input area. A new three-mic array makes audio input clearer for FaceTime calls and Siri commands. They are also given the option to choose the amount of RAM and storage space for their new MacBook Air. The all-new MacBook Air features a Retina display, a first for the series and a feature that's always been anticipated. At 2.75 lbs, it is a quarter pound lighter than the previous version. Not only is it created to prevent MacBook Air users from getting malware but it also makes it physically impossible for hackers to access your microphone when you're most vulnerable.

Lastly, the new MacBook Air is constructed from 100-percent recycled aluminium.

Apple also unveiled new Mac models at an opera house in NY, where the company emphasized artistic uses for its products such as creating music, video and sketches.

Apple on Tuesday officially announced the newest MacBook product.

The new MacBook Air has the "latest generation keyboard", which has four times the stability over the previous generation. This ensures that all sensitive information is stored in a dedicated chip.

MacBook Air is available to order today and launches on November 7.

Battery life has been extended to "up to" 13 hours and in terms of hardware there's an 8th Gen Intel dual-core CPU with integrated graphics, up to 16GB of memory and an SSD of up to 1.5TB. SSDs are up to 1.5TB in capacity and 60% faster than the previous model. Here's everything you need to know. The first MacBook Air was introduced in 2008 at a time when its ultra-thin chassis was seen as radical and revolutionary. Apple re-created MacBook. MacBook... didn't kill MacBook Air.

The Air is the only computer in Apple's current line-up that lacks the Retina display now it gets one. This machine has extremely few compromises for a non-pro laptop, and a starting price that is $100 cheaper than the MacBook. "Unlike any notebook that's come before or since, MacBook Air has become the most beloved notebook ever".

Despite the new improvements, the updated MacBook Air is 17 per cent smaller in volume than its predecessors and weighs only 1.2kg as well as measuring only 1.5cm at its thickest point.
