The election has gotten national attention as money has rolled into O'Rourke's campaign from outside Texas in hopes of turning the state blue, but so far Cruz's popularity appears to be overcoming his big money advantage.
Cruz has served as one of two U. S. Senators for Texas since 2012 and seeks senatorial re-election after a lost Presidential nomination in 2016 for the Republican candidacy.
