Brendan Rodgers challenges squad ahead of crucial Europa League clash

Brendan Rodgers removes the fear factor from Celtic ahead of Europa League meeting with RB Leipzig

Celtic have just three points from their first two Europa League fixtures

Boss Brendan Rodgers believes Celtic are "still in with a great chance" in the Europa League despite the 2-0 defeat to RB Leipzig in the Red Bull Arena.

"It's something we can't control but I'm looking forward to the match".

"As a rule, we play quite differently in front of our home crowd - much more attacking".

Red Bull Leipzig manager Ralf Rangnick has hailed the talents of Celtic wonderkid Kieran Tierney, as well as his team-mates Callum McGregor and Odsonne Edouard.

Rodgers believes that irrespective of the result against RB Leipzig, his side, who have scored 10 goals in their last two Ladbrokes Premiership matches, will still go into Sunday's Betfred Cup semi-final against Hearts at Murrayfield with optimism.

Australian midfielder Daniel Arzani was handed a training session with the Celtic first-team on Tuesday as he gradually starts to work his way into Brendan Rodgers' plans. "We know if we're going to have any aspirations of coming out of the group then it's a game we have to win".

"It's about going and performing and taking that confidence of going to play and not being frightened to make mistakes".

"We're playing against one of the top teams in Germany but we still have to show our way of playing and when we do that we know we can cause problems".

Rodgers has been quick to downplay Arzani's lack of opportunities to date and most recently said he has been impressed with the teenager's progress.

Rodgers said: "Jozo looks like he'll be struggling".

"You want your best players available".

Having been part of the the Hoops academy set-up to date, Rodgers chose to give Arzani a chance to impress with the first-team at Murrayfield instead of taking part in a reserves game against Partick Thistle.

Both are young - Benkovic is 21 and Hendry 23 - and the club will miss the considerable experience of Boyata and Simunovic at the back as Celtic bid to reach the League Cup final for the third season in a row.
