Black Mirror's next season is expected to arrive in December, but Netflix has yet to nail down a specific release date. Apparently it's the first of many experiments dabbling with live-action interactive programming, with plans firmly locked in for a second sometime in the near future.

The streaming service has already released interactive programming for children, like the series Puss in Book. The Shrek spinoff Puss in Book allowed the viewer to make several choices for the titular Puss in Boots, including whether he visited Sinbad or Snow White, and whether Goldilocks' three bears were friendly or antagonistic.

While Bloomberg only outed Black Mirror and Minecraft as two new interactive series coming to Netflix before the end of the year, the publication says Netflix is developing "a slate of specials" that will expand its existing offerings in that area.

That's right, get ready for the return of Black Mirror this December.

Black Mirror fans are in for a treat. Season 4 premiered at the very end of a year ago, on December 29th, which means that Season 5 could follow suit.

Netflix decline to comment, other than to direct me to a YouTube video of crickets chirping and an animated GIF of Titus Andromedon casting a spell.

"Not only did the company have to tweak some of its back-end technology to integrate interactive content into its catalog, Netflix and its studio partners also had to figure out how to best tell these kinds of stories", she added.

So why not start with the most technologically dystopian show of all time, and go for Charlie Brooker's Black Mirror?

This is about as Black Mirror as Black Mirror is going to get. It's not yet clear just how complex the episode will be or exactly when it'll debut although Bloomberg expects it by the end of the year.

This news comes from Bloomberg, who have reported a single episode of the upcoming fifth series will be interactive.
