‘Fake news’: Ronaldo dismisses rape claims as lawyers set to sue German magazine

Cristiano Ronaldo denies rape claim as 'fake news'

Smiling, the Juventus star assured fans: "No, no, no, no, no".

"They want to promote my name".

Last night, the Juventus forward dismissed the claims as "fake news" on Instagram: "What they said today: fake, fake news. I'm [a] happy man and all, all good".

Ronaldo is one of the biggest names in world sport and has won the Ballon D'or - football's most coveted individual prize - five times. Paparazzi photos captured on the evening in question clearly show Mayorga and Ronaldo talking to each other in the VIP area of the casino's Rain nightclub. In one intimate moment he clasps her hand while whispering into her ear. She "refused and stated she wanted to leave the hotel suite", say the court documents.

Daily Star Online has contacted Dr Schertz asking him about the rape allegations made by Ms Mayorga and the legal action Ronaldo is planning to take in response. According to her account, he went on to rape her anally without a lubricant and then assured her he didn't have HIV/AIDS.

In Nevada the criminal code states that if a sexual assault was documented by police, there is no statute of limitations.

In an interview with Der Spiegel, Mayorga claimed Ronaldo said he was "99 per cent good a good guy" let down by the "1 per cent".

Cristiano Ronaldo (33) has been accused of raping a woman and giving her money to keep it a secret, reports The Wall Street Journal. Her former lawyer had proposed clearing up the matter out-of-court.

Knowing she was a "vulnerable person", his team reinforced the threat of public humiliation if she or anyone else publicly disclosed her allegations or cooperated with law enforcement, her complaint says. Ronaldo's lawyers say they will sue the magazine.

Mayorga said she called Vegas cops and went to a hospital where evidence of the alleged rape was documented and photographed. She says was left traumatised, suffering from post-traumatic stress, "major depression" and suicidal thoughts. "The objective of this lawsuit is to hold Cristiano Ronaldo responsible within a civil court of law for the injuries he has caused Kathryn Mayorga and the consequences of those injuries".
