Lions Were Close To Trade With Patriots For Rob Gronkowski

"Brady's my quarterback. That's all".

It got to the point, according to the report, that Gronkowski was so unhappy with almost becoming a Lion that he wouldn't return any phone calls from the Detroit organization. He reportedly suffered the hamstring injury during a promotional video that wasn't team related. That report stated that, upon being informed prior to April's draft that he was close to being traded to the Lions, Gronkowski threatened retirement and refused to play anywhere but New England.

Gronkowski led the Patriots with 1,084 yards and eight touchdowns past year across 14 games.

The tight end explained his reasoning, and it was quite simple: He didn't want to run routes for anybody but Tom Brady.

The Patriots (1-2) have had weaknesses exposed on both sides of the ball, losing two of their first three games for the first time since 2012. This season, Gronk even had his contract restructured and has a chance to earn $13.05 million.

Michel took no silver lining in being called upon as the Patriots' lead rusher, saying, "If we aren't winning games, it isn't fun". The two were atop the Patriots receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns list previous year, combining for 134 catches, 2,166 yards, and 15 touchdowns.

New England's defense looks like it could use Patricia back in his previous role after it allowed Jacksonville's Blake Bortles to throw for 376 yards and four touchdowns in last week's romp.

And Sunday's comments from the 6-foot-6 tight end officially confirmed the latter point.
