Scoring against Southampton will have come as a huge relief and after the game he showed his class by making one young Liverpool fan's dreams come true.

The Saints could not get to the break for some respite as Shaqiri, who was surprisingly hooked at half time despite his contribution to two goals, whipped a 30-yard free kick against the crossbar, and Salah raced in to tap home the rebound from only a yard out.

The Holland global was unlikely to play in the midweek Carabao Cup tie at home to Chelsea anyway so will have a whole week to recover before the Premier League encounter between the two sides at Stamford Bridge.

'He is very lively, very positive, ' said Klopp.

Despite the fact Klopp's side set a new club record of seven-straight wins at the start of a campaign on Saturday, Matip saw room for improvement in terms of their performance. Everyone loves Shaq; that is how it is - without playing plenty of minutes.

- Liverpool boss Klopp has won all five of his Premier League meetings with Hughes, more than he has against any other manager in the competition.

'I made different decisions but his time will come, that is for sure.

"He had fantastic offensive situations in both of the last games". They all want to play. We have to give opportunity - but only if they are in good shape.

Klopp has options up front too after Daniel Sturridge came in for Roberto Firmino and scored the opener against PSG, with Firmino then coming off the bench to grab the dramatic late victor.

Shaqiri scored eight goals in 36 league appearances for Stoke City last season and was on target for Switzerland in their Nations League victory over Iceland earlier in the month.

It was not just any match for Klopp either as he celebrated an impressive milestone on the bench, taking charge of his 600th game. 'So long as he is working as he is in this moment, everything will be fine.

"We were unfortunate with the opening goal, a ricochet off a couple of players and it ends up in the back of the net".
