Josh Gordon was a limited participant in his first practice as a New England Patriot due to a hamstring injury, per the team's initial injury report before Sunday's game at Detroit. "We'll see how it goes", Belichick told Scott Zolak. When healthy and in the right mindset, Gordon has the potential to be a Top-10 receiver in the NFL. Yet Belichick wouldn't discuss the receiver. "And when those are completed, we'll have a completed trade". As it turns out, the Pats are getting that seventh-round pick regardless.
Now, Coleman is the only first-rounder from the 2016 draft who is on a practice squad. Belichick will hold a press conference on Friday, during which he'll likely field additional questions about Gordon. Cleveland was set to release Gordon late last week after a rocky six-year relationship, but instead found a trade market for his services and ultimately sent him to New England for a conditional fifth-round pick. Before that suspension during the 2013 season, Gordon led the league in receiving yards (1,646). Now, the Patriots will have Gordon, Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, and a returning Julian Edelman in Week 5.
