Liverpool's start to the campaign has seen them live up to their pre-season billing as Manchester City's nearest challengers and Gomez will be hoping to emulate six-time Premier League victor Ferdinand by lifting the title at the end of the season.

Jordan Henderson led Liverpool to the Champions League Final last season as they lost to Real Madrid.

Can was a key member of Jurgen Klopp's starting eleven last season and even featured in the UEFA Champions League final despite failing to sign a new contract.

"I feel it's been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I've enjoyed so much".

Whilst he may not be everyone's favourite player, Klopp is a huge fan of Henderson and he'll be a regular in a Liverpool shirt for years to come.

Henderson told Liverpoolfc.com: "I'm very happy to have signed a new contract for a long period of time".

Liverpool top the Premier League table after winning all of their opening four games, ensuring the club's best start since 1990-91.

Henderson, who agreed a previous five-year deal in April 2015, said there was "no other place in the world" that he would want to play football.

However, as club captain, the England worldwide still has an important part to play for Jurgen Klopp's men going forward, which is why he has signed a contract extension which will see him remain at Anfield until 2021. One of these footballers is also still playing.

Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez has admitted that the player he most looks up to is former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
