President Kenyatta Wraps Up Washington DC Visit After Bilateral Talks

Their meeting is coming after the Financial Times reported that Donald Trump referred to his Nigerian counterpart Muhammadu Buhari as "lifeless" shortly after a meeting between the two leaders on April 30.

Trump said Kenya and the USA would continue to work together to grow their partnership in trade, investments and security.

Mr and Mrs Trump are earlier scheduled to welcome Mr and Mrs Kenyatta to the White House in a 10-minute ceremony commencing at 1:45 pm, according to the White House.

President Kenyatta is in the USA at the invitation of his host Trump.

The second agreement signed in the presence of President Kenyatta when he met business executives of leading U.S. companies meeting under the umbrella of the Business Council for International Understanding (BCIU), was a $ 5 million letter of commitment in financing to expand the distribution network of Twiga Foods and improve food security and agricultural wages in Kenya. Both Kenya and the USA have troops in Somalia, and the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab extremist group has crossed the border to carry out dozens of attacks inside Kenya, calling it retribution for sending troops.

During the visit, Uhuru also attended a meeting with business executives of leading USA companies during which investment deals worth billions of shillings were signed between Kenyan and USA companies. He'll host British Prime Minister Theresa May in Nairobi, Kenya's capital, on Thursday.
