Actress Mouni Roy, who made her silver-screen debut with "Gold", recently had a hot photoshoot in Gold dress in Mumbai.
It seems like the national holiday has paid off for both Bollywood releases this year with Akshay Kumar's Gold and John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate together bringing in more than Rs 40 crore in net box office collections, besides the highest opening day figures for the two lead actors individually. Wednesday Rs 25.25 crore, Thursday Rs 8.10 crore, Friday Rs 10.10 crore, Saturday Rs 12.30 crore, Sunday 15.55 crore.
The film is a Hit for sure and it could have covered a much larger distance had it seen a solo release. Both the films that released on Independence Day managed to do well on the box office, after a lull of nearly a fortnight. It is helmed by Reema Kagti and produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under the Excel Entertainment banner. Tapan Das (Akshay Kumar), the team manager, leads the charge to assemble the country's first all-Indian hockey team.
Gold stars Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor, Vineet Kumar Singh and Jatin Sarna along with Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy. Based on the story if India's first Olympic gold medal, the film opened to a good response from the audience and critics alike.
