Drake visits 11-year-old at Chicago hospital after her 'KiKi Challenge' video went viral

An 11-year-old girl awaiting a heart transplant had her spirits lifted when she received a surprise visit from Drake on Monday.

The "God's Plan" singer posted a photo of himself and Sofia on his Instagram, and said: "Me and my love Sofia talking about Bieber and owls and basketball".

Drake chose to visit Sanchez because of her inspiring video of the "In My Feelings" challenge.

Unbeknownst to Sanchez, Drake made the surprise visit after the videos posted of her doing the "In My Feelings" was shared on social media, as he happened to be in town over the weekend for his "Aubrey & The Three Migos" tour at the United Center. "I love your music and I was hoping that you could come and cheer me up for my birthday".

"I'm so happy I got to see you", he told his young fan, to which Sofia squealed: "I'm so happy you came".

Meeting Drake was just one of Sofia's birthday wishes.

His video for God's Plan also showed the rapper surprising people in Miami with money - after he made a decision to give away the entire $1m (£780,000) budget for the video.

Sofia Sanchez, from Downers Grove, will be 11 on August 18 and has been waiting for a new heart at Lurie Children's for the past several weeks. Sofia was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, a condition that often leads to heart failure and need for heart transplantation in order to survive.

Three weeks ago, Sanchez underwent open heart surgery in order to receive a VAD (ventricular assist device) that will help her heart pump blood.

He posted a second image of Sofia sitting on her hospital bed while smiling and wearing a baseball cap saying "Scorpion", the name of his latest album.
