"I did NOT know of the meeting with my son, Don jr.", Trump tweeted Friday morning.
His comments referred to reports that Cohen secretly recorded the President discussing payments to a former Playboy model.
Trump's current attorney, Rudy Giuliani, said Cohen doesn't know what Trump knew about the Russian Federation meeting and suggested Cohen is willing to say anything about Trump to cut a better deal for himself.
A potential slippery slope for Trump, this person said, is that his personal finances were so closely tied to the Trump Organization's finances - "Donald Trump is the Trump Organization".
Giuliani said he's aware of the subject matter of 13 Cohen tapes that have been seized by the government, but that only one affects the president.
Cohen, whose business dealings are being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has longtime dealings in the taxi industry and owns several medallions for New York City yellow cabs that allow them to pick up passengers on the street.
Giuliani declined to name the witnesses.
"Mr. Giuliani seems to be confused". "I don't see how he's got any credibility". His attorney Lanny Davis declined to comment on the report, as did spokeswomen for Mueller and the USA attorney in Manhattan. The Times also reported in June that Trump personally dictated a misleading statement about the goal of the meeting, even after his aides repeatedly denied that he did so. There were several native Russians in the room, including Veselnitskaya, a lawyer with links to the Kremlin.
After news of the meeting broke in July 2017, the Trump team initially offered a misleading explanation of the session. The meeting was premised on the expectation that Russians would offer campaign dirt on Hillary Clinton, and it's become a key focus of Mueller's probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 election and whether the Trump campaign coordinated with Moscow.
The official story later changed.
Trump Jr. had previously confirmed the meeting by tweeting out an email exchange between himself and publicist Rob Goldstone.
A former Trump Organisation employee told CNN his being subpoenaed is the "ultimate nightmare scenario for Trump", because Mr Weisselberg knows "anything and everything" about the financial details of the organisation.
In the early days of its revelation, though, Trump Jr. did try to hide its true intentions.
At another point, Nunberg called Trump an "idiot". He was one of a few select aides that was featured in an episode of Trump's "The Apprentice" during an early season of the show. "Ultimately Donald Trump is going to be done in by the truth".
Alan Futerfas, an attorney for Trump Jr., said in a statement that his client "has been professional and responsible throughout the Mueller and Congressional investigations". Second, Trump could have known about the meeting and Trump Jr. may not have been the source of that information. Additionally, Mr. Cohen has made no public mention of Mr. Trump's knowledge of the Trump Tower meeting. Trump Jr. answered as follows: "No, I did not". Russian Federation has denied meddling in the election.
"The only Collusion with Russian Federation was with the Democrats, so now they are looking at my Tweets (along with 53 million other people) - the rigged Witch Hunt continues!"
"(T) he rigged Witch Hunt continues!" he complained, adding: "How stupid and unfair to our Country".
