SDCC: STAR TREK: DISCOVERY - The Search For Spock Part 2

First Stills From Star Trek: Discovery Season Two Released

First ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Season 2 Trailer Reveals the Enterprise

Kurtzman shared that the upcoming season will sync up with Star Trek canon.

Discovery's new showrunner Alex Kurtzman also revealed that ahead of the new season, CBS All Access will release four 10 to 15-minute stand-alone episodes titled Star Trek: Short Treks.

As we found out in this year's Season 1 finale, that man is none other than Captain Pike, James T. Kirk's predecessor and the captain of the USS Enterprise.

Since then, fans have been speculating about which characters from The Original Series will appear in Season 2.

The role was originally played by Majel Barrett Roddenberry. There is still no word on who will play the character in Season 2 of the show, but he has been teased quite a bit in the time in between seasons as well as the new trailer.

Apparently, Spock-who has conveniently taken a leave of absence from the Enterprise so neither we nor Burnham can see him-is connected to a major new cosmic threat, with odd anomalies popping up throughout Federation space, necessitating an urgent response from the Enterpriseand now the Discovery, which Captain Pike wants to take command of.

Number One is a character who appeared in the unaired pilot for the original Star Trek television series.

Spock actually isn't the only well-known Star Trek character that will pop up in Discovery come season 2.

Also in the video Q&A: Sonequa Martin-Green says that Burnham and Tyler (Shazad Latif) may have unfinished business; Mary Chieffo previews L'Rell's tenuous grip of the Klingon empire, Mary Wiseman talks about Tilly's growing confidence (and new personal struggles); and Anthony Rapp and Wilson Cruz reveal how how Stamets and Culber's "epic love story" might continue, even though the latter of the marrieds is dead! However, the new trailer certainly looks like the show has not missed a beat. The show returns to CBS All Access in January and you can check out the brand-new San Diego Comic-Con trailer for Star Trek: Discovery below, provided by the Star Trek YouTube channel.
