Donald Trump fired disgraced EPA boss Scott Pruit without even talking to him, the Washington Post reports. The people he worked with "respect him, and I think that will help move the agenda forward and make sure the accomplishments are long lasting". "We have made tremendous progress and the future of the EPA is very bright!"

"There have been too many ethical lapses under Administrator Pruitt's watch, and this decision is in the best interests of the agency and our country".
"They're not going to get anyone else through the Senate until after this election cycle", Christine Todd Whitman, who headed the EPA under former President George W. Bush, told the New York Times back in April. Among his former clients are Murray Energy, which teamed up with Pruitt to sue the EPA; Energy Fuels Resources Inc., a uranium mining company that recently petitioned the Trump administration to decrease the size of the Bears Ears National Monument; and a liquid natural gas company called Bear Head LNG Corp.
Pallone last month accused Pruitt's EPA of "betraying the bipartisan effort" that led to passage led to a law updating federal chemical regulations and was named for the late U.S. Sen.
The Adirondack Council, an environmental advocacy group based in Elizabethtown, has been outspoken in its criticism of Pruitt and also celebrated his resignation.
In the past couple of months, almost 40,000 Care2 members signed a petition urging Trump to fire Pruitt - and honestly, who knows if Pruitt left on his own accord?
Representative Gerry Connolly, Democrat from Virginia: "Scott Pruitt's reign of venality is finally over". The company paid Wheeler's firm at least $300,000 each year between 2009 and 2017, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. Similar to how many on the Left mourned Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement, environmental agencies and liberal commentators took to Twitter to express their dread of the new administrator of the EPA.
