GETTYLiverpool transfer news Nabil Fekir is attracting strong interest from the Reds

Fabinho will join Liverpool on a long-term contract on July 1 after the Champions League finalists agreed a deal with Monaco on Monday.

Liverpool manager Klopp is thought to be a big admirer of Fekir, with reports claiming the German sees him as the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho, who the Reds didn't replace after a £142million move to Barcelona in January.

"Going forward I certainly think the midfield needs looking at", Carragher told the Telegraph's Total Football Podcast.

New Liverpool signing Fabinho has revealed that he hopes to develop as a player in the same way that his fellow countryman Roberto Firmino has during his time on Merseyside.

"I have given everything to reach this level, and I can not wait for the chance to start showing what I am capable of", said Coric, who has already played in the Champions League and Europa League.

While Fekir is still talking about the prospect of leaving Champions League-bound Lyon, he has said that any transfer to Liverpool is no formality and that there are still several clubs in the running for his signature. "I don't know how Liverpool are thinking about using him, but I am sure they can use him in both".

"We didn't have a player who could match them on the ball". He can play (as a No. 6, No. 8 and No. 2).

The Brazil global revealed to France Football: "I am very happy".

"I like that he is young yet experienced also, with a high number of games at a club that compete to win".

He's played for Brazil on two further occasions since then.

He's more than comfortable operating at right-back though, the position he originated in.

Usually deployed as a defensive midfielder, Fabinho has scored 31 goals in 233 appearances for Monaco since arriving at the club in 2013 from Real Madrid, winning the French league title in 2017.
