Trump's latest disclosure filing said Cohen incurred the expense in 2016 and that Cohen "sought reimbursement" in 2017.
The disclosure, signed by Trump and released by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, did not describe the goal or the recipient of the original 2016 payment to a "third party" made by Cohen, for which he was reimbursed by Trump.
President Donald Trump has filed a financial disclosure report that reveals a payment to his personal attorney, Michael Cohen.
Novartis's payments to Cohen have reportedly aroused the interest of Swiss public prosecutors, although there are now no criminal proceedings underway. Apol's letter was released with the Trump disclosures.
AT&T, which has acknowledged paying some $600,000 to Cohen and was also named by Daniels' lawyer, has also said it was a "big mistake" and a "serious misjudgement" to hire Trump's lawyer, even as it maintained its actions were legal. Trump, who has denied having a sexual relationship with Daniels during his marriage to First Lady Melania Trump, said earlier this month that he reimbursed Cohen.
By comparison, Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida had revenues of $25.1 million.
"OGE has concluded that the information related to the payment made by Mr. Cohen is required to be reported and that the information provided meets the disclosure requirement for a reportable liability", the office said.
The 92-page report lists Mr. Trump's more than 200 property holdings, including Trump Tower in NY and his private Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, valued at more than $50 million.
"We have the best properties in the world; they're doing extraordinarily well", Eric Trump said. Daniels says she had an affair with the president. He also said that nearly all the information he made public was accurate. "It is absolutely stunning that we've reached the point where the President of the United States appears to have lied to U.S. Office of Government Ethics about a payoff to a porn star". In trying to talk his way out of a campaign finance violation, Trump has inadvertently admitted to filing a false financial disclosure in 2017. But the president retains ownership of those businesses, through a trust, and can take money out of them at any time.
