GETTY Arsene Wenger will step down as Arsenal manager at the end of the season

The Premier League outing between Manchester United and Arsenal will start at 4:30 pm local and 9 pm IST.

Arsenal have been reportedly considering turning to a former club legend to replace Wenger, such as Patrick Vieira, Thierry Henry and Mikel Arteta.

Arsene Wenger has selected his last ever starting XI for Arsenal at Old Trafford, as he looks to end Manchester United's 10-match unbeaten run on home turf against the north London club. Ferguson changed his mind and would stay for another 11 years while Wenger said at the time Arsenal's "values" meant he would never have accepted the job anyway.

Mourinho identified 2004 as the year Arsenal stopped being United's main rivals and urged fans at Old Trafford to be respectful with Wenger. The 68-year-old also had a frosty relationship with Jose Mourinho but it has improved in the recent past. I always say you have fights with big opponents - but then over years it was more about the media than real feelings.

"I am pleased that he has announced he is leaving at this stage of the season, as he can now have the send-off that he truly deserves".

Of course Wenger and Arsenal have far greater priorities with the second leg of their Europa League semi-final away to Atlético Madrid to come next Thursday - hence eight changes - but this was little more than a stop on the Frenchman's farewell tour. This gives Manchester United a big advantage, along with a good chance to add some cushion to the 2nd place aspirations. The pacey striker has a ridiculous 6 goals and 3 assists in his first 9 Premier League games. And they made sure Wenger felt their appreciation.

At other clubs, I was already thinking 'what next?' I had things I really wanted to do - I had to go to Italy, I had to go to Spain. But the pregame moment was special, and well engineered by United.

Today marks the last time Arsene Wenger will sit in the visitors' dugout at Old Trafford as Arsenal manager, can the Frenchman mastermind a victory in his 19th encounter against his old adversary Jose Mourinho?
