Citing personal reasons, he has submitted his resignation to the Andhra chief justice.
"Justice hasn't been done", the Hyderabad Lok Sabha member said on a micro-blogging site. He is an accused in the 2007 Samjhauta blasts case. Devendra Gupta is the RSS pracharak from Bihar while Lokesh Sharma is a RSS activist from Madhya Pradesh. Nine people were died in the May 18, 2007 blast and another five were killed in police firing after violence erupted. Neither for those who suffered the loss of loved ones, nor for the country's security establishment which must find and ensure punishment for the villains if they are indeed not the five accused as the court has held.
Two accused persons - Sandeep V Dange and Ramchandra Kalsangra - are still absconding. Local police who initially investigated the case did narco-analysis in which the suspect admitted the crime. It didn't take authorities any time to link the blast to terror outfits such as Bangladesh-based Harkat-ul-Jihad-al-Islami (HuJI) and Pakistan based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).
"Mission accomplished! My congratulations to NIA for their grand success in Mecca Masjid case". According to the chargesheet, the accused were "angered by terrorist attacks committed on Hindus and their temples" and conspired to "avenge" such acts with attacks on Muslim places of worship and places densely populated by Muslims.
Instead, the NIA continued to rely heavily on Aseemanand's confession, including his claim that Mecca Masjid in Hyderabad was bombed as a "lesson needed to be taught to Hyderabad since its Nizam had chose to leave India for Pakistan at the time of Independence".
It was RK Singh who had disclosed the role of RSS-linked groups in the bomb blasts. He was granted bail by the Punjab and Haryana High court in August 2014, months after the NDA government came to power.
The firebrand MP alleged that the Modi government did not even appeal against the bail given to the accused earlier. "Besides, he added that evidence offered by Aseemanand's confession got further weakened as it was being used against a co-accused", the former NIA official said. Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said people were losing faith in NIA.
Aseemanand was acquitted a year ago in the 2007 Ajmer Dargah terror attack. It is an independent body... now after the court verdict on Mecca Masjid blast, the party (Congress) stands exposed.
Both parties are locked in a furious back-and-forth in the wake of the Mecca Masjid case verdict, with the BJP demanding apologies from Sonia and Rahul Gandhi for their party's alleged use of the terms "Hindu terror" and "saffron terror" to "defame Hindus globally".
