Man arrested after allegedly shooting gun near Champion workplace

Police say the first robbery occurred at the CVS at 972 E. Little Creek Road around 5:30 a.m.

While on scene, officers obtained a description of the robber, which was broadcast to police in the field and later provided to the public via a press release.

Champion police arrested a suspect who allegedly fired a gun into the air near his place of employment, Sino Global Environmental Services Friday night. Police did not disclose the amount of money he stole from the woman's bank account. The bank is located inside the Vons supermarket at 2355 E. Colorado Blvd.

"We are urging the offender and any other person who may have witnessed the incident to come forward to police before we come knocking on their doors", he said. "She returned approximately 15 minutes later and this time claimed she had a bomb as she demanded the money from the teller".

Sign up for our breaking news email newsletter: When major local news happens, you will be the first to know. Officers listening to police-band dispatches about the incident on their radios spotted the vehicle and began following it as it entered southbound Lake Shore Drive at Irving Park Road.

The suspect was described as a black man, about 30 years old, six feet tall with a stocky build, wearing a black jacket and black trousers.
