The police have blamed both incidents on Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), designated as a terrorist group by India and the United States.
The headless body of a youth abducted by terrorists earlier this week, was recovered on Friday in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district. On Monday militants stormed the house of Farooq Ahmad Parrey, firing indiscriminately and hitting the women inmates with knives and cleavers before abducting and killing their son-in-law at Hajin area of North Kashmir's Bandipora district.
"LeT militants abducted Manzoor Ahmed Bhat and his father, Abdul Gaffar, after barging into their house and assaulting their family members", Hindustan Times quoted a police spokesperson as saying. But the gunmen took his son with him and subsequently murdered him. This is the second such incident in the past few days where civilians have been targeted by militants in the Kashmir Valley. The police is on the lookout for the terrorist and further investigations are being conducted in the case.
The police said a local LeT's cadre is behind the killing of Butt after his kidnapping. He said Lashkar terrorist Mohammed Saleem Parrey is believed to have played a major role in the murder.
The police said one militant was killed in Pulwama's Kgan when a patrol of the security forces came under fire. His bullet-riddled corpse was found on the outskirts of the township next day.
