Sega, however, announced at the Sonic the Hedgehog panel at this year's SXSW that a physical release for Sonic Mania will be rolled out with Sonic Mania Plus.

Sonic Mania Plus is set to be released in Summer 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Sonic Mania Plus will come with a special holographic box, will include a retro reversible cover and a 32-page artbook. But thanks to Sonic Mania Plus, those character are coming back. It has two new playable characters, Mighty and Ray, an all-new "Encore Mode" mode and a 4-player competition mode. Both debuted in the 1993 isometric arcade spin-off, SegaSonic the Hedgehog, and most recently had a cameo in Sonic Generations.
