Chelsea future not linked to trophies, says Conte

FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi speaks out after reaching UEFA Champions League 100 goal mark

Barcelona 3 Chelsea 0 (4-1 on aggregate)

The Argentinian scored twice against Chelsea at the Nou Camp in the second leg of the Champions League Round of 16 fixture to help his side attain a 3-0 victory against the Antonio Conte's side.

The Italian coach revealed after the game that he did not think his team deserved to lose and the only difference between the teams was the brilliance of Barca's number 10.

"It's right to praise a super, super, super top player. They have very risky players and we must play great attention for that reason".

I think there's been a lot of positives in both games against Barcelona and I think we have to show this desire in the next games and make sure that we win every game.

Lionel Messi was lauded by Antonio Conte after punishing Chelsea's mistakes to send Barcelona through to the Champions League quarter-finals.

"It is annoying, I can not hide inside - I have to be a man and come out".

Messi has frequently been linked with a big-money move to the Premier League but Conte is convinced the striker will retire at Barcelona.

Messi wrapped things up with a confident second-half finish, but Alonso - who struck the post with a first-half free-kick - reflected: "We knew they have top players and we cannot give them one metre because then they can create and score". The holders have tasted defeat in just three of their last 34 Champions League games and Cristiano Ronaldo has netted in every continental match this season.

"Chelsea have to play both Liverpool and Tottenham at Stamford Bridge, and they have to win both to have any chance of creeping into fourth place".

"We played Barcelona, but we've had whole weeks to recover and rest". Barcelona meanwhile made it into the quarterfinals with Messi continuing his destructive run. It is not yet known how many games the midfielder will miss, although fans will be hopeful of good news given Barcelona's congested schedule list over the coming months. From the edge of the box, Messi supplied Dembele with an incredible ball.

The Blues, now fifth in the Premier League standings, visit Leicester on Sunday in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup. "We enjoy him. We're lucky enough to be seeing something that will go down in history".
