Paris Saint-Germain star Neymar will reportedly miss the second leg of his side's UEFA Champions League round-of-16 clash against Real Madrid next Tuesday due to an ankle injury.

The Brazilian national team doctor has flown to Paris to assess Neymar's injury, but Paris Saint-Germain will have the final say on how to treat the fractured foot and ankle sprain.

Emery attempted to play down the concerns of PSG fans, claiming that he was optimistic that the former Barcelona forward could recover in time for the crucial visit of Real.

"I don't like players getting injured so I am not glad to see Neymar's injury", Zidane said.

"I do not think it influences next week's game". 'I'm not happy with Neymar's injury. He is always the first one to want to play in every match.

Neymar was stretchered off in anguish toward the end of PSG's 3-0 victory over their archrivals in the capital, having innocuously rolled his right ankle and flopped to the ground in pain.

"It is false [the report]", Emery said.

According to Globo Esporte, the Brazil global will undergo surgery to treat the injury that will take three months to recover, meaning he would only return to first-team action in May, one month before the World Cup begins.

Just past year, Neymar's worldwide team-mate Gabriel Jesus was out of action for two months after breaking a metatarsal playing for Manchester City. PSG spent big on Neymar in part because of its Champions League failures: It hasn't advanced past the quarterfinals in each of the past five seasons. I hope he can be in the second leg. We are going to wait.

Neymar is yet to be officially ruled out of the tie and PSG manager Unai Emery expressed hope his star player would be available when speaking after Sunday's game.
