Authorities searching for missing 4-year-old Heidi Renae Todd

Heidi was wearing a hot pink top and blue trousers when she disappeared. On Wednesday, she was discovered and recovered after two men working on a railroad spotted a suspicious vehicle, containing a sleeping man and a little girl, and reported it. So the authorities got her out and then the driver woke up and drove away.

Police are still looking for the abductor.

A crowd that had gathered for a vigil for the missing child erupted in cheers as Tecklenburg made the announcement.

"We give God the glory and thanks that all of our prayers have been answered and in fact Heidi Todd is safe in the hands of the FBI", Charleston Mayor John Tecklenburg said during a news conference Wednesday night.

"Most of the time when the child is missing for this length of time it doesn't end like this", Oliver said."I'm just thankful to be involved".

The chief explained that he smelled alcohol, and noticed that the girl in the vehicle, Todd was nervous and wearing clothes that were much larger than her size. "She is considered medical to be in fair condition", Mayor Tecklenburg told reporters Wednesday afternoon.

Following the incident, authorities were notified when no one picked up the two children she dropped off at school that morning.

Officers say Heidi maybe with a "skinny" Hispanic male ranging in age from 25-30 with short hair, dressed in all grey.

Police have released a sketch a person of interest who has been seen in the neighborhood over the last few days.

The girl's father was working for the US Coast Guard in Virginia when she vanished.

Taylor said, "At the present time, we are trying to unravel a motive". He's now at the hospital with the mother.

The FBI is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the recovery of Heidi Todd. Following the attack, he returned to SC to be with his family.

Because authorities could not be sure of the circumstances of Heidi's disappearance, they could not issue an Amber Alert.
