Twitter Reactions: Australia romps home to third consecutive victory

Glenn Maxwell Proves to be Australia's Trump Card in T20Is

Maxwell's thank-you gift to Carey for priceless single

The win ensured Australia will play in the tri-series final in Auckland, New Zealand, on February 21 with preliminary matches now switching to New Zealand.

Kane Richardson collected the pick of the figures, taking three for 33 as he topped and tailed the 20 overs, while all-rounder Marcus Stoinis got through his allocation for a miserly 18 runs.

With one game remaining for the Australians, victory will ensure they make the final after downing England by five wickets in Hobart and beating New Zealand in the series opener.

It was a second drubbing for England after going down by five wickets to Australia in Hobart on Wednesday. Later, Australia came to chase the score and by losing only three wickets, they made the chase successful.

From there Australia's innings accelerated, as D'Arcy Short compiled a fine 36 not out, with Chris Lynn piling on 31 and Maxwell's fluent knock featuring two maximums, as he became the fourth Australian to pass 1,000 T20 worldwide runs.

The worry is that another big collapse in a knockout match at next year's all-important 50-over World Cup with too gung-ho an approach might undo all the good work England have put in since the horrors of the last World Cup.

James Vince's run-a-ball 21 and an eye-catching 29 from Sam Billings was about as good as it got for them, despite accounting for the unsafe David Warner (2) early in Australia's response.

Maxwell was th highest scorer for AUstralia with 39 runs off 26 deliveries which included three boundaries and two sixes.

England looked set for a total beyond 180 but they threw it away with the bat in the middle order and eventually ended up posting 155/9 in their quota of 20 overs.

Alex Hales - 2/10 - Hales made just 2 as England once again got off to a poor start.

Liam Dawson - 2/10 - Dawson only bowled two overs before being taken off after Australian batsmen attacked the spinner. But in 16 runs both were gone.

Dawid Malan - 3/10 - Malan started okay with 10 from 10 balls, but can count himself slightly unlucky to be dismissed after Warner ran him out with an exceptional bit of fielding.

Vince produced a run-a-ball 21 with two hits to the fence. Later, Buttler and Billings played and added few runs where Billings scored 29 runs so far.
