Waititi and Clement starred in and wrote and directed the 2014 horror-comedy film about a group of vampires living in Wellington, which was well received by critics and fans alike. These include Harvey Guillen (The Internship) Kayvan Novak (Thunderbirds Are Go), Matt Berry (House of Fools), and British stand-up comedian Natasia Demetriou (Year Friends).
FX's What We Do in the Shadows reboot also signed in a new cast for the pilot. According to Variety, the series has been picked up as a pilot project at FX, with both men serving as executive producers.
Clement and Waititi will executive produce alongside franchise newcomers Scott Rudin (The Night Of, The Newsroom), Paul Simms (Flight of the Conchords, Atlanta) and Scott Rudin Productions' Garrett Basch and Eli Bush. Berry plays Lazslo, the goofiest in the house, the type of vampire who turns into a bat and flies into a wall. Waititi and Clement are also developing a spinoff film, We're Wolves, based on the pack of werewolves who cause trouble for our nightwalking protagonists and Wellington Paranormal about the inept cops who briefly investigate the roommates.
Taika Waititi isn't mucking around after the success of Thor: Ragnarok - he's just landed a pilot for a US TV show. They struggle to keep up with their strict diet and keep up to speed with the latest trends in technology.
A TV show adaptation of What We Do in the Shadows is reportedly moving ahead.
