It's been a little while since we've seen a new expansion announced for EA's awesome Battlefield 1, but, as the New Year has begun rolling in, we've finally got one - and it's a doozy. Passchendaele takes places in the countryside of Belgium, which has now turned into "a nightmarish landscape of blood and mud". The bloody, muddy hell of Passchendaele and the Austro-Italian clash of Caporetto portray two of the most infamous battles of World War 1, where you'll go over the top to conquer bitterly-contested ground. Severan new gadgets will also debut in the update. The concept art for the map shows airships bombing London.
In addition, DICE plans to add six new guns, including the Chauchat-Ribeyrolles SMG. Premium pass owners will be getting it next month, but there's still no word on whether it'll be available on its own, and how much it'll cost in that case. There's also an AA Rocket Gun for the Assault Class, a new stationary weapon called the Livens Projector that shoots poisonous gas projectiles and two bomber planes for the Caporetto map: the Hansa Brandenburg GI and the Airco DH10.
We also know about the latest weapon and service assignments too, which reward you with specialisations, medals, Dog Tags, and Ribbons over the course of your match history. Almost, because the third expansion, Turning Tides, was split into two parts, the first half arriving in December, with the second slated to come sometime before the end of January. Master the skies in the new Air Assault game mode and expand the horizon of your Battlefield 1 experiences.
The Premium Pass gives you access to all four Battlefield 1 expansions, and now costs £39.99 for PC, Xbox and PS4.
