Of course, a matchup between the "true" national champions and the Knights dreamers will never happen.
UCF athletic director Danny White and Gov. Rick Scott have proclaimed the Knights as national champions.
After a nail-biting National Championship game Monday, the Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 26-23 in overtime.
The Knights won the 2018 Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl in Atlanta on New Year's Day in a hard-fought battle against No. 7 Auburn, which beat both Alabama and Georgia during the regular season. So, they put up a billboard in Tuscaloosa, Ala., where the University of Alabama is located, asking Nick Saban and the Tide for a home-and-home series.
"Florida is home to the country's best college football, and this season, UCF proved to the world that they can beat any team".
Thirty-seven fans of the team raised $1,665 on a GoFundMe page to pay for a digital billboard ad that reads, "Congratulations Alabama".
UCF had been ranked No. 10 in the post-championship game AP Top 25.
UCF's 13-0 ideal season will culminate with the highest ranking in school history. If the Tide had beaten the Knights this year instead of trouncing Mercer 56-0, they wouldn't have been sweating the College Football Playoff committee's decision. A future meeting of the teams would do nothing to change the outcome of 2017, but it'd still be fun, and fun things are good.
