Mr Trump was on the field for the ceremony marking the opening of the college football national championships between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Georgia Bulldogs.

A few weeks ago, President Trump was excoriating NFL players for disrespecting the National Anthem. Televised footage of the match shows that the president while mouthing the lyrics, appears to sing some words wrong and pausing at some lines, though Trump could not be heard.

Mr Trump remembered to put his hand over his heart but seemed to forget the lyrics before making a fumbling recovery.

The president has been extremely vocal in urging respect for the U.S. national anthem.

After the anthem, Trump left the field without saying anything.

One comment read: "Super obvious Trump doesn't know the words to our National Anthem". Even though the United States president hasn't really spoken about these issues or lashed out at the "fake media" for stoking these fears, it looks like these speculations aren't going to die anytime soon, considering the Twitterati is once again speaking of it.

"There is plenty of space for people to express views and to protest", he said. Those in military uniform should salute.

A third pointed out: "America, your President - doesn't know all the words to your national anthem".

Prior to Monday evening's college football national championship in Atlanta, fans in attendance were asked to rise for the customary pregame rendition of the national anthem.

Trump has been sparring with the NFL over "take a knee" protests during the National Anthem since the start of the season.

Trump to Twitter on January 6 to respond to the book. Either way, a lot of people are harshly criticizing the President in light of recent comments he made by calling on National Football League owners to suspend players who disrespect the flag by kneeling during the anthem.

He said fans should boycott any games where players knelt during the anthem.
