Cops say the man wiped the excrement in along the walls in a couple of bathrooms before he then took off his shirt and attempted to stuff it into a toilet.

The United Airlines flight from Chicago to Hong Kong was diverted to Alaska after the flight crew reported a man on board had vandalised areas of the plane.

United Airlines flight 895 from Chicago to Hong Kong was forced to make a pit stop in Alaska, diverting to Ted Stevens International Airport, on Thursday night.

The plane was grounded overnight for maintenance, which meant the passengers were stranded for the night in Anchorage.

The man, a 22-year-old Vietnamese passport holder with USA residency, was escorted off the plane in handcuffs and met by law enforcement in the terminal, Gamache said.

The flight was forced to land after a man defecated and made a mess in two of the plane's lavatories, police said.

The passenger was reportedly cooperative when he was met by airport authorities and Federal Bureau of Investigation agents in Anchorage. Passengers were put up in hotels and the airline was working to get them to their destinations, the statement said. Holler, and was being taken to Providence Hospital for a mental health evaluation. This is not the first time a flight had made an emergency landing for a weird reason.

The disgusting incident is being investigated by both airport police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

No one was injured during the incident, KTUU reports.
