Himachal Pradesh Congress MLA hits woman constable, she slaps back

Case registered against Asha Kumari for ‘slapping’ constable

Congress MLA from Dalhousie Asha Kumari in scuffle with police personnel

Ms Kumari reportedly tried to enter the party office along with AICC president Rahul Gandhi to attend the election review meeting but she was not allowed by the police.

Sources said even the Congress President expressed concern over the incident and told the Congress men to have patience. After all, Asha Kumari was indeed in for a shock of her life as she was slapped from someone belonging to bureaucratic divisions of a state her party ruled until a few days ago.

Congress MLA Asha Kumari slapped lady police constable during Rahul Gandhi's Shimla visit on Friday. Not ready to hold back, the constable slapped her back and this was caught on camera by bystanders. He said he was not happy with the way Asha Kumari reacted as it was against Congress culture.

In the spur of moment, the Congress MLA could not show the entry pass and she was pushed back by woman constables. She had last hit headlines after her appointment as the Congress in-charge of poll-bound Punjab. When I raised my hand for defence, she has termed that as "slap" than I don't know the rest.

Kumari won from the Dalhousie seat in the recent Himachal Pradesh election.

The meeting is being held at the Rajiv Bhawan, the party's headquarters in Shimla.

He will meet party legislators, defeated party candidates and district presidents, and discuss with them the reasons for their defeat.

Party leaders and workers started jostling to enter the office soon after Gandhi went inside the building amid a tight security at the Congress office. The BJP has bagged 44 seats in the 68-seat Assembly to form the government in the state.
