It should come as no surprise to when you hear that Amazon has bought out a startup, Blink, that focuses on smart cameras and doorbells.

Blink's current range of products includes the $99 Blink and $129 Blink XT, in addition to the recently announced $99 Blink Video Doorbell. Financial terms weren't disclosed.

Blink's big draw is that its cameras are supposed to last for two years with just a pair of AA batteries, which means you can easily put them around a home without having to worry about wiring.

Blink's outdoor camera launched later on in 2016.

Amazon.com, Inc. (NASDAQ:AMZN) has been launching smart devices like insane this year, including and all-new Echo speaker, the Echo Spot alarm clock, and the premium Echo Plus speaker.

"Blink brings to the table an expertise in building connected, wireless home monitoring and security tech that also operates completely wire-free requiring no complicated installation and running on simple, readily available replaceable batteries", TechCrunch reported late on Friday. It also launched a new Amazon Key service for people in some U.S. cities to allow a door to be unlocked when they're not home so packages can be left inside.

Amazon confirmed the acquisition in an email to The Verge, saying, "As one of [Blink's] distributors, we already know customers love their home security cameras and monitoring systems".

Amazon launched the wired Cloud Cam streaming video camera earlier this year. "It's Day 1 for us at Amazon, and we're looking forward to seeing what we can deliver to our customers together", reads the press release from Blink.

In a message on its website, Blink said that "if you own one of our systems, nothing changes for now".
