U.S. announces $285M cut in 2018-19 United Nations operating budget

"Well, we're watching those votes".

Guatemala was one of nine nations that voted with the United States and Israel on Thursday when the UN General Assembly overwhelmingly adopted a nonbinding resolution denouncing Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital. To sit amongst so many people who hate you and speak truth in an unwavering voice isn't easy.

"The inefficiency and overspending of the United Nations are well known". How refreshing it is to see someone with integrity, poise resolve and commitment to the truth.

"From Iran's perspective (and that of the Arab countries), there could be no happier outcome, despite the vote's declarative and non-binding nature".

The US President told reporters at the White House, "All of these nations that take our money and then they vote against us at the Security Council or they vote against us, potentially, at the Assembly, they take hundreds of millions of dollars and even billions of dollars and then they vote against us". "We don't care", Trump stated.

"In addition to these significant cost savings, we reduced the UN's bloated management and support functions, bolstered support for key USA priorities throughout the world, and instilled more discipline and accountability throughout the United Nations system". No such steps should be allowed that would hamper peace and stability in the Middle East and deprive the people of Palestine of their rights."India has traditionally and consistently considered East Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine and India's support to the UNGA resolution re-affirms that stand and commitment".

The 35 countries that abstained from voting for the Resolution were: Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Benin, Bhutan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Cameroon, Canada, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Fiji, Haiti, Hungary, Jamaica, Latvia, Lesotho, Kiribati, Malawi, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Philippines, Poland, Romania, Rwanda, Solomon Islands, South Sudan, Trinidad and Tobago, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu. Truth defeated lies. Thank you, President Trump.

. No vote in the United Nations will make any difference on that. "But this vote will make a difference to how Americans look at the United Nations and on how we look at countries (that) disrespect us in the United Nations and this vote will be remembered".

On December 6, US President Donald Trump formally recognised Jerusalem as the capital of Israel as well as making plans to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to the Holy City. "Through all of these years, presidents representing the United States have refused to acknowledge Jerusalem as the Israeli capital".

Triggering protests in several countries, the U.S. recently announced its decision to recognise Jerusalem as the Israeli capital. It is the right thing to do.
