Mariah Carey is Hoping This New Year's Eve Will Be Better Than the Last

One year after a disastrous performance on ABC's Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin Eve with Ryan Seacrest, Mariah Carey is receiving a second chance.

The microphone system last year began to malfunction as Carey sang the opening notes of the New Year's song "Auld Lang Syne".

For those who don't remember, Mariah Carey performed on the program a year ago just before midnight, taking the stage for possibly the most disastrous performance of her career. "See you in Times Square!" said Carey in a statement.

Announcing her performance, Carey tweeted, "Take 2". The performance went viral for all the wrong reasons, and it created a lot of dram between Carey and New Year's Rockin' Eve producers. She said she couldn't here the music in her earpiece, so she tried to mime along for a short time before just giving up and standing there.

She later posted on Instagram: "S- happens... Here's to making more headlines in 2017".

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin'?Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018" is produced by dick clark productions with Ryan Seacrest, Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan serving as executive producers and Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco as co-executive producers.

A public spat soon followed, with the singer's camp blaming Dick Clark Productions for the errors.

If you recall previous year, Carey's performance was marred by technical problems while she was trying to sing "Auld Lang Syne".

"We can all agree that last year didn't go exactly as planned and we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018".
