Samsung announces upgraded Notebook 9 with S Pen

Samsung Notebook 9

As far as specifications are concerned, the Notebook 9 Pen features a 13.3-inch display with Full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

Samsung today announced the new Notebook 9 Pen and three new versions of the Notebook 9 (2018).

It features a 13.3-inch Full HD display and is driven by Intel Core i7 processor (8 gen), Intel HD graphics and up to 16 GB of DDR4 RAM.

The Pen model has the fewest ports of the line-up, including one USB-C port, one USB 3.0 port, an HDMI port, and a microSD port. Both the Notebook 9 (2018) and Notebook 9 Pen come with Windows Hello built-in for secure authentication through the fingerprint sensor without having to type in a password. "The 15" model can also be configured with NVIDIA GeForce MX150 discrete graphics featuring 2GB of GDDR5 VRAM.

The Notebook 9 Pen comes with a built-in S Pen stylus.

The devices are expected to be available this month in Korea and first quarter of 2018 in the United States. The 360-degree hinge offers flexibility for users letting them convert it into a tablet from a laptop just by rotating the keyboard. Whenever the S Pen is detached from the notebook, the Air Command will automatically be launched with the S Pen shortcuts as we have seen in the previous Samsung devices.

As for the "regular" Notebook 9 laptops, these will come in three different flavors, ranging from 13.3-inch displays to that of 15-inch, and save for their differences in design and lack of a touchscreen display, they will share similar hardware specs in terms of RAM and processor. It features Intel HD Graphics. This model also comes with its very own S Pen stylus, which can be tucked away on the front edge of the keyboard. This will let users unlock the device using Windows Hello's facial recognition technology. These models feature 720p HD front-facing camera and are fitted with fingerprint scanner for security. As for ports, the Samsung Notebook 9 Pen comes with one USB Type-C port, one USB 3.0 port, one HDMI ports and a Dollars card slot. It's also slated for release in the US during the first quarter of 2018.

Samsung Notebook 9 Pen, on the other hand, features a convertible form factor with magnesium aluminum chassis, and is lightweight at 1 kilogram. Pricing for the Notebook 9 Pen hasn't been revealed either.
