Rumors of Singer's alleged child molestation have floated in Hollywood for years and it is unclear if those played any role in his termination.
The plaintiff, Cesar Sanchez-Guzman, claims in the lawsuit that he met Singer in 2003 at a party on a yacht, during which Singer offered to give him a tour of the premises.
Sanchez-Guzman is asking for compensation for damages related to experiencing "severe psychological, mental and emotional injuries, shame, humiliation and loss of enjoyment of life".
In 1997, a 14-year-old extra accused Singer in a lawsuit of asking him and other minors to film a nude shower scene for the film "Apt Pupil". Herman dropped Egan as a client and later apologized to two other Hollywood executives, Garth Ancier and David Neuman, after learning that Egan's allegations were false. Guzman says he again pleaded with Singer to stop, to no avail. For his part, Singer released a statement saying he'd been caring for his sick mother. Cesar Sanchez-Guzman apparently claims that he did not remember this alleged incident from 2003 until now.
'The attorney behind this lawsuit is the same lawyer who represented Michael Egan, the convicted felon who sued Bryan Singer in 2014.
"I would look like a complete liar if I came out and said the things he wants me to say", Egan told Vulture at the time. "Those claims were dismissed by Egan himself, and he later went to Federal prison for lying in a fraud case", the rep told TMZ. "We are confident that this case will turn out the same way the Egan case did", the statement said. "And once Bryan prevails, he will pursue his own claims for malicious prosecution", the statement concluded. There was reportedly on-set "chaos" and ongoing clashing between Singer and the film's star Rami Malek (Mr. Robot).
The accusation against Singer is one of a number against prominent American men in politics, media and entertainment who have been accused in recent months of sexual harassment and misconduct.
