Congressional investigators discovered the existence of the post-meeting emails during Trump Jr.'s eight-hour hearing before the House Intelligence Committee.
Trump Jr. acknowledged to House investigators Wednesday that he spoke with Hope Hicks - and not his father - when first confronted with news reports about the Trump Tower meeting, saying they exchanged text messages, sources said.

According to Trump Jr., President Trump was not alerted of the meeting between Trump campaign officials and Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya when it happened, but the two had a conversation regarding the events after the meeting went public.
That's a pretty condensed summary, but as you may or may not recall, we also learned Trump Jr. discussed that meeting with his father.
Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, attended the meeting with several Russians under the impression that they might receive damaging information about Trump's rival, Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
But according to CNN, the Veselnitskaya meeting, and how the White House tried to explain it away as a discussion about United States adoption of Russian orphans, was one focus of the questioning. In this case, however, it appears from reports that Trump Jr.is claiming that the conversation that took place before the White House statement regarding the Trump Tower meeting that was released earlier this year was between the President and his attorney and Trump Jr. and his attorney.
Trump Jr. said because a lawyer was present during the meeting, their conversation was protected.
Trump Jr. frustrated panel Democrats by refusing to answer questions related to the controversial meeting, amid a probe that is investigating whether Trump campaign aides colluded with the Kremlin.
"I don't think my colleagues on the other side of the aisle would dispute the fact that as to this very central conversation between father and son, the witness declined to answer the question", Schiff said.
In the end, the committee does not seem to have been able to compel Trump Jr.to answer the question.

In an email, Harvard constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe said he also found Trump Jr.'s invocation of attorney-client privilege to be "ridiculous".
Other lawmakers, Republicans as well as Democrats, say the goal of their investigation is to guarantee the integrity of USA elections, not to target Trump and his associates. "That's not the objective of attorney-client privilege".
