"3 Pakistani LeT terrorists killed, arms and ammunition recovered", said IGP Kashmir, Munir Khan. He also said that all the three terrorists were Pakistanis.

Police spokesman Manoj Pandita told Anadolu Agency that three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed in Magam village in Kupwara district. His elder brother Musaib was killed in an encounter in the Hajin area of Bandipora district in January this year.

The encounter took place after security forces received a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the area, a search operation was launched immediately resulting in a gunbattle with the three terrorists.

The police, CRPF and Army strengthened the cordon and tried to flush out the militants. At least eight rebels, an Indian air force commando and a policeman have been killed in the last two days.

In another gun battle which started in Zirhama forest area of Kupwara on Tuesday afternoon, one Army jawan has been killed and two others have been injured. "The security forces are now engaged in a gun battle with them".
