A radio broadcaster accused US Senator Al Franken on Thursday of touching her chest while she slept and forcing a kiss on her in 2006 when he was still a comedian and the two were preparing to perform before US troops in the Middle East.

Tweeden said Thursday that she was afraid to speak out when the incident happened out of fear of losing her job, explaining why she chose to come out with the allegations now. In one skit, there was a kiss she said Franken wanted to rehearse.

"While I don't remember the rehearsal for the skit as Leeann does, I understand why we need to listen to and believe women's experiences".

"We're not going to fix the problems of sexual harassment and assault until men take responsibility for their actions and change their behavior", said the MA senator, who has recently collaborated with Franken for several advocacy videos about specific policy issues. "I shouldn't have done it". She posted a photo on her Twitter account to support her claim. "I'm not calling for him to step down". Al Franken, D-Minn., of sexual misconduct accepts his apology and said she is not looking for him to resign.

Speaking on her radio show Thursday morning, Tweeden said she didn't come forward with the allegations sooner because she feared her career, including a stint as a swimsuit model, would lead others to discount her story. "He said to me, 'We need to rehearse the kiss.' I laughed and ignored him". "Then she reached down and started rubbing my crotch and within just five or ten minutes, my cock was again hard and ready for action".

"Allegations of sexual assault or harassment by any member of Congress, like those against Senator Franken, must be taken seriously and investigated fully by the Ethics Committee".

Franken becomes the latest figure swept up in sexual harassment allegations that have mushroomed since Hollywood figure Harvey Weinstein was hit with multiple allegations.

"I found myself extremely attracted to the vulnerable side of this sexy scientist, and when I offered to comfort her, she accepted, kissing me full on the lips and inserting her tongue into my mouth and moving it around suggestively", Franken wrote.

Tweeden says she tried to resist but says Franken forced himself on her and stuck his tongue in her mouth. "Maybe I can be somebody's Jackie Speier, and they can tell their story in real time". "Or, 'That's why you never see Lesley until February.' Or, 'When she passes out, I put her in various positions and take pictures of her'".

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) called on the Senate Ethics Committee to review the allegations against Franken.
