Rand Paul, who ran for the United States presidency past year, has been attacked at his home in Kentucky.

Kentucky State Police says the Federal Bureau of Investigation is now investigating to see if the assault was politically motivated.

The Kentucky State Police reacted to Rand's habitation at 3:21 p.m., as indicated by an official statement from the organization.

US Senator Rand Paul has suffered minor injuries after being attacked in his Kentucky home on Saturday.

According to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure, Boucher is a retired physician, as of February, 2015.

Boucher is employed as an anesthesiologist, reports The Heavy, who graduated from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic. "Senator Paul is fine", the statement read.

Property records listed an addressed for the suspected located close to Mr. Paul's residence, the Bowling Green Daily News reported. It is valued at $740,000.

According to the Warren County Regional Jail's website, Boucher remained in jail as of Saturday afternoon with a bond of $5,000.
