"We are excited to add the College Football Playoff National Championship to the roster of premier events at our stadium including the Super Bowl and the Opening and Closing ceremonies of the 2028 Olympics".
Houston will host the 2024 title game at NRG Stadium as announced on Wednesday by Executive Director of the College Football Playoff Bill Hancock.
This year's national title game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
"In partnership with the City of Los Angeles, we are fully committed to making it the greatest fan experience in this event's history", Inglewood Mayor James Butts said.
"We expect it to generate over 150 million dollars in economic impact".
The game will take place on January 11, 2021, at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla.
It will be the first time that Houston will host the college football national championship will be hosted in Texas since the first CFP National Championship game hosted at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
"We are thrilled to be able to bring the national championship game back to this area", said Don Slesnick, president and chair of the Orange Bowl Committee. The city has served as a renowned host to top collegiate events for many years-and, of course, to the Indianapolis 500, a great Super Bowl, Pan American Games and more. It will play played at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara in 2019 and New Orleans in 2020.
The playoff, which started in 2014, will not have a stadium host a second national championship game until at least 2025.
It will be the first national championship game for South Florida since Alabama defeated Notre Dame 42-14 under the former Bowl Championship Series. "Also, the community provides a state-of-the-art stadium, top-flight convention center and a centralized, "walkable" downtown that our fans will love".
